Saturday night's game between Boston and Tampa Bay is potentially a preview of an Eastern Conference playoff first round matchup. As it stands, the Bruins are the #2 seed in the East with the Lightning currently sitting in the 7th spot. Actually this could be a situation of Tampa wanting it much less so they can get out of this unfavorable matchup, since Boston is 3-0 against the Lightning with Tampa Bay scoring only 1 goal in the series.
Boston kicked off the 2014 season way back on October 3 with a 3-1 victory over Tampa Bay. It would mark the last time the Lightning scored in the series, something they hope to change Saturday night.
The second game featured more dominance by Boston as they posted a 5-0 win in Tampa, the site of Saturday's game. Five different Bruins scored in the game and Tuuka Rask stopped all 33 Lightning shots he faced.
The most recent game between the two was back on November 11th and was marked not only by a 3-0 Bruins victory but also a broken leg suffered by Lightning star Steven Stamkos. In fact, Stamkos missed the next 45 games and only recently returned to the ice on Thursday. Boston was once again heavy favorites and they rewarded faithful backers that jumped on the -175 line. Due to Tampa's inability to score the under was the rewarding play of the night.
