The last time the Boston Bruins met the Phoenix Coyotes, they were on a six game winning streak and on top of the Eastern Conference with 93 points. Tuukka Rask, who has being playing well for the Bruins, made 21 saves to help his team along to a 2-1 victory over the Coyotes and extend their winning streak to seven.

Goalie Mike Smith made 18 saves for the Coyotes, but could not get help on the offensive side. The Coyotes were handed five power-play opportunities and were unable to convert on any of them.

The first goal of the game was by Zdeno Chara. He took a wrist shot that made it past Smith due to a Chris Kelly screen in front of the net. It was captain Chara's 16th goal of the season, just three short of his career high. The next goal came off of a breakaway where the Bruins managed to get the puck up to Johnny Boychuk, who took a shot from the blue line. His shot was deflected by Jarome Iginla into the net, giving Iginla his 21st goal of the season. The Coyotes best chance to score in the first was when a puck snuck behind Rask, but Rask was able to reach back and pop it out before it crossed the line.

The second period saw no scoring, but in the third the Coyotes would cut the lead in half, disrupting Rask's chance for a shutout. The goal came with 12 minutes to go in the game, when Lauri Korpikoski was able to find the back of the net.
