The Boston Bruins were able to take a 3-2 lead over the Montreal Canadiens in the Eastern Conference semifinals by beating them 4-2 on home ice Saturday night. The game was close throughout with the Canadiens having the slight edge in shots on goal at 31-30, but the Bruins were the more physical team and had the better goaltender in net on the night.

Carl Soderberg scored off of assists by Loui Eriksson and Matt Bartkowski at the 13:20 mark of the first period to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead. Reilly Smith and Jarome Iginla each at a power-play goal inside of the second period's first two minutes, but the Canadiens would get a power-play tally of their own later in the period when Brendan Gallagher scored his fourth of the playoffs. Loui Eriksson made it 4-1 Bruins midway through the third period before Montreal defenseman P.K. Subban got a consolation power-play goal for the visitors a few minutes later.

Soderberg ended up with a goal and two assists for the Bruins, while netminder Tuukka Rask put together a fine night in net by stopping 29 of the Canadiens' 31 shots.

Carey Price had a rough night in goal for Montreal, saving 26 of the Bruins' 30 shots on goal for an .867 save percentage. Montreal defenseman Andrei Markov had two assists and five shots on goal in the loss.
