The Montreal Canadiens got off to a great start in their Game 3 matchup with the Boston Bruins, and they were able to hold them off for a 4-2 victory to take a 2-1 lead in the series. The two teams combined for just two penalties in the game, but Montreal was just a bit more physical and outhit the Bruins 36-31 on the night.

Midway through the first period, Tomas Plekanec scored his third goal of the playoffs to give the Canadiens the 1-0 lead. A few minutes later, defenseman P.K. Subban put Montreal on top by two off of assists by Lars Eller and Dale Weise.

Dale Weise made it 3-0 when he scored his third goal of the playoffs at the 13:52 mark of the second period. Patrice Bergeron was able to get one back for the Bruins four minutes later, though, during a period when Boston looked like the better team.

Jarome Iginla scored for the Bruins nearly 18 minutes into the third period to make it 3-2, but Lars Eller was able to score an empty-net goal for Montreal to put the game to bed.

Subban and Weise finished the game with a goal and an assist apiece for the Canadiens, while netminder Carey Price saved 26 of the Bruins' 28 shots on goal.

Boston goalie Tuukka Rask had a decent game in net by saving 22 of the 25 shots he faced.
