There's nothing Boston would like more than to overtake Pittsburgh for the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs and continuing their dominance over the Florida Panthers would go a long way in determining that fate. The Bruins are 4-0 against Florida this season and save for a 3-2 victory back on October 17th the games really haven't been close.
With victories of 4-1, 6-2, 4-1, and 3-2 the Bruins have asserted their dominance over their counterparts from the South. Their most recent matchup featured scoring by the Bruins in every period including a hat trick from David Krejci. The March 4th game saw Boston getting almost 40 shots on goal with their own goaltender posting a .958 save percentage.
The Bruins have had a busy March thus far and Sunday's game will be their 6th in 10 days, including the second end of a back to back. Boston has posted a 3 game win streak during that time, outscoring their opponents 13-4.
Florida would love nothing better than to take advantage of their weary opponents and right the ship of their recent troubles. The Panthers picked up right where they left off before the Olympic break, subsequently dropping their first two games to keep a 4 game losing streak going. They were able to get a 5-3 victory over the Islanders before the latest loss to Boston 2 games ago. It will be interesting to see if the goalie shakeup leads to better success for Florida against the Bruins as the Panthers sent Tim Thomas to Dallas and acquired Roberto Luongo from the Canucks.
