On Tuesday night, the Boston Bruins were able to shut the Detroit Red Wings out with a 3-0 win to take a 2-1 lead in their quarterfinal series.

Boston's 20-year-old defenseman Dougie Hamilton was able to score his first career playoff goal nine minutes into the first period while the Bruins were on the power play. The goal was one that Detroit goalie Jimmy Howard would like to have back, as it looked like a simple save to make on Hamilton's wrister, but the netminder let it get by him.

Jordan Caron doubled Boston's lead nearly six minutes later off assists from Shawn Thornton and Kevan Miller. After neither team could find the back of the net in the second period, Patrice Bergeron scored the insurance goal for Boston on an unassisted tally with two minutes remaining in the third period.

Boston's offense did do pretty well in the game, but once again netminder Tuukka Rask was their player of the game. The 27-year-old goalie was able to stop all 23 shots that the Red Wings put on goal, including a spectacular save early in the third period on Justin Abdelkader's shot.

Other than that early mistake, Jimmy Howard was solid in net for the Red Wings. He was able to stop 31 of the Bruins' 33 shots for a .939 save percentage.

The Red Wings will be hoping to get the Game 4 win in Detroit to avoid going to Boston down 3-1.
