Wednesday night, the Boston Bruins will take the ice in Detroit as they face the Detroit Red Wings.  Each team will be looking to add just their 2nd victories of the season.

The Boston Bruins will come into this game after suffering a heartbreaking defeat in their last one.  Monday night, the Bruins hosted the Colorado Avalanche and the Bruins were expected to have a good chance against a weak scoring Colorado team.  But after neither team scored in the 1st period, thing didn’t look as simple as expected.  Then the Avalanche took a 1 - 0 lead in the 2nd and suddenly Boston was in the hole.  A Loui Eriksson power play goal tied it up in the 2nd and Boston’s fortunes looked a little brighter. But a last second goal at the end of the 3rd period by Colorado prevented the game from going to overtime and dropped the Bruins to 1-3-0 (2 pts).  The Bruins have struggled with scoring and against the Red Wings; things might not get any better.

The Detroit Red Wings haven’t allowed their opponents to light the lamp too much this season but their last opponents got enough to get by them.  The Anaheim Ducks managed to erase a 2 -1 deficit in the 3rd period of last Saturday’s game by posting 2 unanswered goals en route to the 3 - 2 win.  With the Red Wings losing at the end just as the Bruins did, there should be some motivation to erase that tough loss from their minds.  The difference in this game will probably come down to the team that plays a complete 3 periods of hockey.
