Saturday night, the Boston Bruins will travel to the First Niagara Center to take on the Buffalo Sabres.

The Boston Bruins will come into this one after losing to the Montreal Canadiens 6 - 4 on Thursday night.  In that game, the Bruins played as if they really didn’t want to win.   Boston took the lead in the 1st on a Zdeno Chara power play goal but then immediately gave up the tying goal.  After Montreal made it 2 -1 in the 2nd, Boston scored 2 goals to take the lead again.  But they gave up 2 goals to end the 2nd down 4 – 3. Despite a late Boston goal, Montreal had 2 in the 3rd and that sealed the win for them.  It’s almost a certainty that the Bruins won’t play as sloppily against Buffalo as they did against Montreal.

Meanwhile, the Sabres will be coming off their Friday night game against the Florida Panthers.  The Sabres seem to be playing just as poorly this season as they did last season.  And the prospect of back to back games (even at home) might contribute to even more lackluster play.  For Buffalo to even have a shot at beating the Bruins, they will have to find a way to score goals.  They are giving up nearly 3 goals per game more than they are scoring.  Against a Boston team looking to redeem themselves after their last game, Buffalo might be facing more scoring than they can handle.
