Thursday night, the Arizona Coyotes will take the ice at the Xcel Energy Center as they face the Minnesota Wild.

The Arizona Coyotes will be coming in after a tough 4 -3 shootout loss to the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night.  Although the Coyotes lost, they shouldn’t find any fault with their effort.  The matched the Predators at every step and had briefly held the lead in the 3rd period.  But Nashville quickly tied it up again and sent the game to overtime and the eventual conclusion in the shootout.  And even there, Arizona had a chance to win it and fell just short.  Arizona will need the effort they displayed against the Predators in their game against the Wild.  Minnesota has not allowed too many goals and will be tough to get an edge on. 

The Minnesota Wild will come in well rested considering that they played their last game on Saturday night.  But Minnesota took a 2 -1 loss to the Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings in that game.  Minnesota allowed Los Angeles to take the early 1 -0 lead in the 1st and Los Angeles extended the lead to 2 -0 in the 3rd before the Minnesota could respond.  But by then, it was too late.  The Wild have managed to keep their opponents off the board, but their offensive production at times has not matched their defensive prowess.  If they can regain the balance of scoring and defense, they could win some games instead of losing them.
