On Sunday night, the Arizona Coyotes will go on the road to face the Edmonton Oilers, who have lost six of their last eight games. When Arizona and Edmonton played each other in mid-October, the Coyotes had their best offensive performance of the season when they beat the Oilers 7-4 at home.

The Coyotes scored three third-period goals against the Vancouver Canucks on Friday and ended up shutting them out 5-0 on the road. Center Martin Hanzal was the star of the show in that game by notching the second hat trick of his career.

Arizona has scored 2.6 goals per game this year while giving up 3.2 goals per game to their opponents. Goalie Mike Smith has a 4-9-0 record with a 3.43 GAA and an .889 save percentage. Veteran Shane Doan has six goals and six assists on the season, while center Antoine Vermette has four goals and eight assists.

Against the Ottawa Senators on Thursday, the Oilers forced overtime with two third-period goals, but they ended up losing 4-3 in the extra period. They lost that game despite outshooting the Senators 37-30 and holding them goalless on their four power play opportunities.

Through 17 games, the Oilers are near the bottom of the league in goals against after giving up 3.4 goals per game. Center Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has had a pretty good start to the season by notching five goals and eight assists. Netminder Ben Scrivens is 4-6-1 with a 3.01 GAA and an .897 save percentage of the season.
