The Arizona Coyotes will try to keep the Carolina Hurricanes winless when they visit them on Saturday night. Arizona and Carolina played each other twice last year, with each team picking up one win.

The Coyotes lost their second game in a row on Thursday night when they were beaten 2-1 by the Florida Panthers on the road. They did put 33 shots on goal in that game, but they faced an in-form Roberto Luongo, who finished with 32 saves.

The Coyotes have lost six of their first nine games, but they still have one of the better power play units in the NHL. Defenseman Keith Yandle has one goal and a team-high eight assists so far this season. Goalie Mike Smith is 2-5-0 with a 3.96 GAA and a .866 save percentage.

On Tuesday, the Hurricanes lost their eighth straight game when they were beaten 4-1 by the Vancouver Canucks on the road. They didn't get their first goal until the third period in that game and they were 0-for-3 on the power play.

Carolina is only scoring 1.9 points per game while giving up 3.9 goals per game to their opponents. The Hurricanes' top offensive player has been left wing Jiri Tlusty, who has five goals and two assists in his team's first eight games. Veteran netminder Cam Ward has really struggled through his first four starts, going 0-3-1 with a 3.95 GAA and a .840 save percentage.
