Friday night, the Arizona Coyotes will hit the road and make a stop at the Honda Center to face the Anaheim Ducks.

The Arizona Coyotes held on to beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 3 -2 in their Tuesday night game.  The Coyotes jumped on the Maple Leafs early and built a 2 - 0 lead after the 1st period.  Early in the 2nd, Arizona extended the lead to 3 - 0.  But they couldn’t hold that advantage.  Toronto used the power play to score once in the 2nd and once in the 3rd to close the gap.  Arizona managed to hold off Toronto for the rest of the way.  Has the Coyotes not allowed to go 2 for 5 on the power play, the game wouldn’t have been so close.  The fact that Arizona went 0 for 4 on their own power play only made things worse. The Ducks have a pretty good penalty killing unit and the Coyotes might not be able to do any better against them than they did against Toronto.

The Anaheim Ducks mounted a rally in their last game but they fell just short in the 3 -2 loss to the New York Islanders on Wednesday night.  Anaheim gave up a goal in the 1st period and one early in the 2nd to spot New York a 2 - 0 lead.   But the Ducks rallied with 2 goals in the 2nd to make it a tie game going into the 3rd.  The game stayed tied through the 3rd but New York closed out the game with a goal early into the overtime period.  It was a rare loss for the Ducks.  Anaheim has been on a tear to open the season and it’s expected that they will continue their 4 game homestand by getting back on the winning side against the Coyotes.
