With a 6-3 win over the San Jose Sharks the last time they played, the Anaheim Ducks are looking good going into the playoffs. Ryan Getzlaf scored his 20th goal and had two assists. Helping him along was goalie Jonas Hiller with 33 saves in his ninth consecutive win as Anaheim improved to 15-0-2 at the Honda Center, remaining the only NHL team without a regulation loss at home at the time.
Despite a slow start by the Ducks, they were able to take back a win after losing to the Sharks in the previous game, 3-1. Scoring did not start early for the Ducks, as neither team scored until the Sharks' Kyle Palmieri was able to flip one in past goalie Antti Niemi 16:24 into the first period. Then just 35 seconds into the second, Dan Boyle of the Sharks took advantage of a power-play, assisted by Joe Pavelski and Joe Thornton. But Francois Beauchemin returned fire for the Ducks, 11:00 into the period, followed by another Sharks goal by Logan Couture to tie things up. Two more goals would follow midway through and then late in the period by Ducks' Nick Bonino and Matt Beleskey.
The third would see more action by the Ducks, including a goal by Ryan Getzlaf, assisted by Corey Perry just 1:14 in. Then just a little over a minute later, another goal came through by Andrew Cogliano, who was playing his 500th consecutive game for Anaheim, making him only the fifth player in NHL history to achieve that accomplishment. One more power-play goal by the Sharks' Bracken Kearns assisted by Matt Irwin and Matt Nieto, but is was too-little-too-late for the Sharks, as they fell 6-3.
