Tuesday night, the Anaheim Ducks travel to the City of Brotherly Love to take on the Philadelphia Flyers.
The Anaheim Ducks come into this one in the midst of a short road trip to the Eastern half of the country. Last Saturday they were in Detroit for a game against the Red Wings. Monday night they took on the Buffalo Sabres. And Tuesday night, they would have to face the Philadelphia Flyers. Anaheim has been playing well and has had no problem scoring goals and keeping their opponents off the scoreboard. They have also maximized their power play opportunities. But they might not need too much of an effort against a struggling Philadelphia Flyers team.
The Flyers have started this season the same way that they started the last 2 seasons – by losing. They will take the ice 0-2-1 and in desperate need of some type of spark. In their last game, they lost in a shootout to the Montreal Canadiens. There really shouldn’t have been a shootout at all but Philadelphia blew a 3 – 0 by allowing 3 Montreal goals in the 3rd period. And after a scoreless overtime period, they allowed just one goal in the shootout, but that one goal was enough. The sad part is that the Flyers aren’t giving up that many goals compared to the number that they are scoring. There are just too many defensive lapses and just too many mental breakdowns. If they don’t get things together, they will have a hard time getting past the Sabres.
