In Game 5 of the Western Conference semifinals, the Anaheim Ducks did what they needed to do on home ice against the Los Angeles Kings by beating them 4-3 and took a 3-2 lead in the series.

The Ducks were the first team to strike in this one through a Nick Bonino goal just over two minutes into the first period. The Kings were able to counter seven minutes later, though, when Trevor Lewis scored his third goal of the playoffs.

In the second period, Mathieu Perreault was able to restore Anaheim's one-goal lead when he scored on the power play off of assists by Teemu Selanne and Francois Beauchemin. Soon after that, Devante Smith-Pelly made it 3-1 to the home team when he scored his fourth goal of the postseason. Jakob Silfverberg would make it 4-1 midway through the period, but Marian Gaborik was able to get one back for the Kings when he scored his seventh goal of the postseason on a power-play goal at the 18:42 mark.

Gaborik Would get another one in the middle of the third period to make it 4-3 Ducks, but Los Angeles couldn't find the equalizer and Anaheim held on for the win.

Ducks young netminder John Gibson had another good game in goal for the hosts by making 39 saves for a .929 save percentage. Jonathan Quick made 20 saves for the Kings.
