The Los Angeles Kings scored the goals they needed early and got great goaltending the rest of the way to beat the Anaheim Ducks 3-1 on Monday night to take a 2-0 series lead. Anaheim was more aggressive and had a 37-17 shots on goal advantage in the game, but Kings netminder Jonathan Quick had his best game of the playoffs so far to secure the win for Los Angeles.

Los Angeles' right wing Marian Gaborik opened the scoring just 34 seconds into the first period with his sixth goal of the playoffs. Patrick Maroon would answer for the Ducks, though, at the 9:40 mark of the period on a power-play goal that was assisted by Ryan Getzlaf and Cam Fowler. Alec Martinez would score the eventual game-winner less than three minutes later when his shot ricocheted off of a Kings' defenseman.

Kings left wing Dwight King scored an empty-net goal late in the third period off of an assist by Justin Williams to seal the win for Los Angeles.

Jonathan Quick was easily the top player on the ice in the game. He made amazing stop after amazing stop and ended up finishing with 36 saves and a .973 save percentage in the win.

Ducks goalie Jonas Hiller could only stop 14 of the 16 shots he faced on the night for a lowly .875 save percentage.
