The Anaheim Ducks last played the Colorado Avalanche on the first game of the season October 2nd. The Avalanche beat the Ducks 6-1. This was not a great start to the 2014 season for the Anaheim Ducks. As the score would indicate this game went completely the Avalanche’s way from the start.

New Avalanche coach Patrick Roy received a warm welcome from the fans in Colorado and he earned it with a win against the Ducks. Anaheim had trouble all night producing on offense and Colorado goalie Semyon Varlamov ended the night with thirty five saves. The Avalanche’s offense had no problems producing points against the defense of the Ducks and five different Colorado players scored their six goals.

The Ducks only goal came with seven seconds left in the game. Anaheim would rally after their first loss and go on the win their next seven games while the Avalanche would go on to win their next five games. Currently Colorado is third in their division and sits six points out of 1st place. The Ducks are in first place in their division and have a two point lead on San Jose.
