Sunday night, the Anaheim Ducks will continue their road trip with a stop at the Pepsi Center to take on the Colorado Avalanche. 

The Anaheim Ducks grinded out a tough 2 -1 overtime win in their Friday night game against the Dallas Stars.  As expected, the game between familiar rivals was a tight, chippy affair.   The teams played to a scoreless draw in the 1st period. Late in the 2nd period, Anaheim’s Corey Perry put the Ducks up 1 – 0.  The lead held until late in the 3rd when the Stars tied it up.   At 2:30 into overtime, Nate Thompson scored his 1st goal of the year to give Anaheim a hard fought victory.  Anaheim might not encounter much resistance from their next opponent as the Avalanche could be tired following their Saturday night game.

The Colorado Avalanche will have to deal with a solid Anaheim Ducks team after playing Saturday night against the St. Louis Blues in St. Louis and then traveling home to Denver.     Colorado hasn’t looked like the team they were last season and they aren’t expected to look too hot in this one either.  There won’t be much time to rest after playing Saturday night, hopping on a plane home and then preparing to take the ice Sunday night.  But the Avalanche will give the best effort that they can.  Colorado coach Patrick Roy played in the NHL long enough to know what his players will be going through and he will know what to tell them to get them up to play in this one.
