The Atlanta Falcons face the New York Giants on Sunday at MetLife Stadium. The opening line for this matchup has the Giants as 2.5 point favorites and the over/under was set at 50.5.
The Falcons started off the season with a 26-24 win against Chip Kelly and the Philadelphia Eagles. Matt Ryan threw for 298 yards with 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. He was 23 of 34 and was sacked once. Julio Jones had a big game receiving for Atlanta, as he caught 9 passes for 141 yards and 2 touchdowns. Roddy White chipped in with 4 catches for 84 yards but didn't find the end zone. Rookie Tevin Coleman had a strong debut for Atlanta, rushing for 80 yards on 20 carries. Atlanta had 21 first downs and 395 yards of total offense for the game.
The Giants lost a heartbreaker to the Dallas Cowboys 27-26. Eli Manning didn't have one of his best games, throwing for only 193 yards and no touchdowns. He was 20 of 36 and was sacked once. Odell Beckham Jr. only had 5 catches for 44 yards after a strong 2014 campaign that set his expectations very high for this season. Rashad Jennings led the Giants on the ground, running for 52 yards on 13 carries with a touchdown. New York had 18 first downs but only 289 yards of total offense. They were only 1 for 4 in the red zone, which is something Tom Coughlin and his coaching staff should be preaching in practice this week. The Giants offense will still be without Victor Cruz for an undetermined amount of time, so Beckham is going to have to be the #1 receiver he's expected to be moving forward.
