Both the Tennessee Titans and the New Orleans Saints had pretty good performances in their first preseason games, and they will now go up against each other to see how much progress each team has made.
The Tennessee Titans played their game against the Green Bay Packers in pretty bad weather conditions last week, so both teams were forced to focus on their running games. The Titans only ended up rushing for 105 yards on 32 carries, but their defense was able to hold the Packers' offense to just 294 total yards.
Titans quarterback Jake Locker played the whole first quarter in that game, but he only ended up throwing two passes. Rookie running back Bishop Sankey got most of the carries for the Titans, finishing with 37 yards on 13 carries. Sankey also caught three passed for 38 yards and a touchdown.
The New Orleans Saints played in one of the righter games last week when they were able to squeak out a 26-24 win over the St. Louis Rams. The Saints finished with 375 yards on offense, but their defense gave up 388 yards without forcing a turnover.
Saints running back Mark Ingram was the star of the first half for his team, rushing for 83 yards on eight carries, including a 22-yard touchdown run. Quarterback Ryan Griffin, who is battling with Luke McCown for the backup QB role, completed 16 of his 23 passes for 179 yards and a touchdown.
