Sunday afternoon, the St. Louis Rams will visit the Washington Redskins.

The St. Louis Rams haven’t had too many opportunities to shine this season, but they looked like a great team last week in their 52 – 0 drubbing of the Oakland Raiders.  The Raiders are the worst team in the NFL and they looked like it as the Rams put up 38 points in the 1st half. The Rams hadn’t scored 38 points in any of their other 11 games this season.   The performance got them closer to finishing the season at a respectable .500.  And if they play as well against the Redskins, they could put themselves one win away from .500.  But the Redskins will try to thwart the Rams as they are struggling to break a 4 game losing streak.

The Washington Redskins benched starting quarterback Robert Griffin III in favor of Colt McCoy last week, but it didn’t matter as the Redskins still lost to the Indianapolis Colts 49 -27.  In all honesty, the Redskins wouldn’t have had a chance to beat the Colts even if Sammy Baugh, Sonny Jurgensen or Joe Theismann was behind center.   Even though McCoy threw a career-high 3 touchdowns, his defense allowed Andrew Luck to throw 5.  And the Colts were a vastly superior team.  But the Rams really aren’t and if McCoy can torch a decent Colts’ defense, he should be able to have his way with a bad Rams defense.  A win might go a long way to getting McCoy some more starts in Washington this season or someplace else next season.
