Sunday afternoon, the San Francisco 49ers will make the short trip to the O.co Coliseum to meet the Oakland Raiders.

The San Francisco 49ers took on their familiar nemesis, the Seattle Seahawks, on Thanksgiving night and it wasn’t the game that everyone expected.  The 49ers seemed totally lost as the Seahawks took a 19 -3 victory.  The 49ers offense was inconsistent and they had no answer for the vaunted Seahawks defense.  The Seahawks offense didn’t play their best either but their defense set up their only touchdown and kept Seattle in the game.  The NFC playoff picture is incredibly tight with a logjam of teams on the outside looking in.  The 49ers are one of those teams but they should be able to take a win over the lowly Raiders.

The Oakland Raiders are playing at a level of futility that is approaching historic levels.  They were embarrassed 52 -0 by the St. Louis Rams last week in one of the worst losses in franchise history.  The Raiders were down 21 - 0 at the end of the 1st quarter and 38 -0 at the half.  The rest of the game was just too brutal to watch even for the Raiders faithful that are used to seeing losses.  That loss dropped Oakland’s record to 1 -11 and considering the fact that all of the 4 teams that they have left to play are above .500, more losses are likely to come.  At this point the Raiders can’t even play for pride and they will face a 49ers team that definitely has something to prove.  That means that the Raiders could be in line for another epic beating.
