The Philadelphia Eagles will be hoping that they can pick up their first preseason win in three tries when they host the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night.
In their second preseason game last week, the Philadelphia Eagles looked impressive offensively against the New England Patriots throughout the night, but turnovers and poor defensive play led to a 35-26 loss. The Eagles put up 413 offensive yards, in that game, but they allowed 476 yards, including 250 rushing yards.
Quarterbacks Nick Foles, Mark Sanchez and Matt Barkley each threw one or more touchdown passes for the Eagles in the loss. Rookie wide receiver Jordan Matthews was very impressive in the game, catching nine passes for 104 yards. Rookie defensive end Alejandro Villanueva had two tackles and a sack for the Eagles.
Against the Buffalo Bills last week, the Pittsburgh Steelers were able to make two field goals in the final quarter to pull off the 19-16 home win. The Steelers only gained a total of 254 yards in the win, but their defense played well and forced four turnovers.
Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger played the first couple of series in the game and finished 8-for-11 with 128 yards and two touchdown passes. Veteran wide receiver Antonio Brown caught two passes for 93 yards, including a 76-yard touchdown reception. First-round pick Ryan Shazier led the Steelers with 11 tackles in the game.
