Saturday afternoon, the Philadelphia Eagles will visit FedEx Field as they face the Washington Redskins.
The Philadelphia Eagles were supposed to be one of the better teams in the NFL but they didn’t look like it on Sunday night as they lost to the Dallas Cowboys by a score of 38 -27. Things went wrong for the Eagles right out of the gate. Dallas recovered the opening kickoff after some miscommunication on the Eagles kickoff squad and immediately took a 7 - 0 lead. By early in the 2nd quarter, Philadelphia was down 21 – 0 and it looked like the game was over. But the Eagles roared back behind 24 unanswered points and suddenly things got exciting. Dallas didn’t panic and quietly regained the lead by scoring touchdowns to answer the Philadelphia field goals. The loss severely hurt the playoff chances that seemed so secure a few weeks ago. The Eagles will need to win both of their last two games and for the Cowboys to lose to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday for them to squeak in the playoffs. That means the Eagles will be playing with a purpose against the Redskins.
The Washington Redskins took their 6th straight loss on Sunday as they fell to the New York Giants 24 - 13. Nothing has gone right for the Redskins this season and it was evident on Sunday. After starting quarterback Colt McCoy left with a neck injury in the 1st quarter, former starter Robert Griffin III came in and provide a little bit of a spark. At the half, the Redskins were up 10 – 7 despite a controversial call that wiped out a touchdown and got wide receiver Santana Moss ejected after arguing that call. That call might have taken out the Redskins spirit as the 2nd half was all New York. If there is any consolation, the Redskins could play spoiler by defeating their hated divisional rivals. Washington-Philadelphia games are always close affairs and anything can happen.
