Sunday afternoon, the Oakland Raiders will travel to Qualcomm Stadium to take on the San Diego Chargers.

The Oakland Raiders are in the midst of a freefall and there seems to be no end in sight. Last week, they started off well against the Denver Broncos but ended up taking a 41 - 17 drubbing. The loss dropped them to 0 - 9 on the season. Oakland didn't take full advantage of early mistakes by the Broncos and thus had just a 10 - 6 lead midway through the 2^nd quarter. From that point on, the Broncos just poured it on. The late score by Oakland at the end of the game just made the score seem closer than it really was. The Raiders might have a slim chance of beating a struggling Chargers team but the Chargers will be determined to stop their own free fall.

The San Diego Chargers will come into this one after having the entire bye week to think about their current situation. The Chargers have lost their last three games including a matchup against the Miami Dolphins two weeks ago. In that game, the Chargers lost 37 - 0 and were shutout for the first time in over a decade. Philip Rivers threw 3 picks and had a fumble as the offense never found a way to get anything going against the Dolphins. Rivers should have an easier time of it against the Raiders though. In a battle of two teams with different reasons for seeking a win (Oakland wants to finally win and San Diego wants to get back in the playoff hunt), one team will need to want the win just a little more.
