The Detroit Lions will hope that all of the talent they have will finally help them to make the playoffs. Their first test will be a home game against the New York Giants, who will be trying to make it back to the postseason for the first time since 2011.
Last season, the Detroit Lions finished with a 7-9 record, but they had a chance to possibly make the playoffs had they not lost their last four games. Quarterback Matthew Stafford and superstar wide receiver Calvin Johnson helped the offense to finish in the top six in the league, but the defense had a tough time stopping the pass.
Over the offseason, the Lions were able to add wide receiver Golden Tate, but they lost defensive end Willie Young and wide receiver Nate Burleson. Detroit took a chance by drafting a tight end at No. 10 overall in the draft, but Eric Ebron is expected to be a great addition to their offense.
The New York Giants lost their first six games in 2013 and found that impossible to overcome, finishing with a 7-9 record. Eli Manning and the offense had an off year and ended up in the bottom five in total yards.
The Giants made three solid additions in free agency by signing Charles Brown, Rashad Jennings and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. Rookie wide receiver Odell Beckham should get plenty of snaps this season.
