The New Orleans Saints (2-3) will hope that their defense will step up on Sunday afternoon when they face the good passing attack of the Detroit Lions (4-2).

The Saints came back to force overtime in their game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week and came away with a 37-31 overtime win. New Orleans had 511 offensive yards against the Bucs' defense in that game, including 371 yards through the air.

The Saints have scored 26.4 points per game this season, but they have also given up 28.2 points per game. Quarterback Drew Brees currently has a 91.8 passer rating by thrown for 1,574 yards with nine touchdowns and six interceptions. Second-year running back Khiry Robinson has rushed for 304 yards with two touchdowns and is averaging five yards per carry.

On Sunday, the Lions played excellent defense against the Minnesota Vikings on the road and ended up winning 17-3 to move to keep their spot atop the NFC North. They gave up just 212 total yards in that win and they forced the Vikings into committing three turnovers.

The Lions have the second-best defense in the NFL right now after giving up just 13.7 points per game through their first six games. Wide receiver Golden Tate has caught 38 passes this season for 495 yards and one touchdown. Defensive end Ezekiel Ansah has 21 tackles, 3.5 sacks and one forced fumble so far this season.
