Sunday night, the New England Patriots will travel west to take on the San Diego Chargers.

The New England Patriots faced the Green Bay Packers last week in a matchup that many billed as a potential Super Bowl preview.  And although the game lived up to the hype, the Patriots fell to the Packers 26 – 21.  The Patriots started slow but they more than made up for it later on as they stayed just a small step behind the Packers.   The Patriot defense did almost everything that they could to stop Aaron Rodgers but they just couldn’t.  But they were able to force the Packers to 4 field goals when Green Bay should have gotten touchdowns.  New England is in control of the AFC East but they still want to finish strong as they head towards the postseason.  But they will face a San Diego team that is fighting to hold on to their playoff spot.

The San Diego Chargers seemed to be headed for a loss in their last game against the Baltimore Ravens but they pulled out an improbable comeback as they got a 34 - 33 victory.   The Ravens needed the win to keep their playoff hopes alive and they played like it for most of the game.  The led the Chargers almost all of the way but Philip Rivers led his team to 21 4th quarter points, including a last second touchdown pass that sealed the comeback win.   San Diego can’t afford to allow the Patriots to lead most of the game because the New England defense will not give up a rally late. The Charger defense will have to find a way to slow down Tom Brady and the Patriots because if they don’t, it will be a long night for the San Diego faithful.
