Sunday afternoon, the Kansas City Chiefs will visit the Arizona Cardinals. 

The Kansas City Chiefs severely hurt their playoff chances last week after losing to the Denver Broncos 29 - 16 last Sunday night.  In that game, the Chiefs just didn’t look like a team that belonged in the playoff hunt.  Their effort seemed lacking at times and they allowed the Broncos to set the pace early with 17 unanswered points to open the game.  With that kind of lead, Denver is tough to beat.  The Chiefs still have an outside chance of getting into the playoffs and they will get a good test against the Arizona Cardinals.  But if their effort is lacking again, the Chiefs might seal their own fate.

The Arizona Cardinals were supposed to be the best team in the NFL.  But last week, they planted some seeds of doubt in the minds of fans as they lost 29 – 18 to the Atlanta Falcons.  The Falcons came out with a sense of urgency as they sought to keep pace in the NFC South.  The Cardinals came out flat and that led to a 17 -0 Atlanta lead after the 1st quarter.  If the Cardinals were the team that everyone thought that they were, they would have responded in a big way.  But they just didn’t and that in itself spoke volumes.  But if the Cards want to rebound, they will need to do so against another team that also is struggling to stay in the playoff hunt.   With both teams looking to prove something, it could come down to the team that wants to win just a little bit more than the other.
