The Detroit Lions (2-1) will be hoping that their defense can have another great game when they face the New York Jets (1-2) on Sunday afternoon.

The Lions played very well defensively in their game against the Green Bay Packers last weekend and ended up beating them 19-7 at home. Detroit held the Packers to only 223 total yards in the win and their offense was 11-for-18 on third down chances. The Lions have the number one defense right now by giving up just 244.3 yards per game.

To the surprise of no one, Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson has been his team's top player by catching 19 passes for 329 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Matthew Stafford has started out pretty well by completing 62.3 percent of his passes for 883 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions.

The Jets were only able to score six points in the second half of their game against the Chicago Bears on Monday night and ended up losing 27-19. The Jets did have 414 yards and held the Bears to only 257 yards, but they turned the ball over three times in the loss.

Jets quarterback Geno Smith has passed for 713 yards through his team's first three games with three touchdown passes and four interceptions. Linebacker Demario Davis has 21 tackles so far this season with 2.5 sacks.
