The Detroit Lions (3-2) will try to stay at the top of the NFC North on Sunday afternoon when they go up against the Minnesota Vikings (2-3). The Lions and the Vikings played each other twice in 2013 with each team coming away with one win.

On Sunday, the Lions were outscored 11-0 in the fourth quarter by the Buffalo Bills and lost 17-14. The Lions only rushed for 69 yards in that loss and they were just 1-for-11 on their third down opportunities.

The Lions have the best defense in the NFL right now after giving up just 282.4 yards per game in their first five games of the season. Quarterback Matthew Stafford is fifth in the NFL with 1,397 passing yards and he has thrown six touchdowns. Wide receiver Golden Tate has 31 catches this season for 451 yards and one score.

The Vikings couldn't put up any points until the fourth quarter against the Green Bay Packers last Thursday when they were beaten 42-10 on the road. They turned the ball over three times in that loss and were just 5-for-15 on their third down chances.

The Vikings are 28th in the league passing the ball with just 205.2 passing yards per game. Safety Harrison Smith has been Minnesota's top defensive player so far this season with 27 tackles, one sack and three interceptions. Rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has 467 passing yards in his first two games and he has rushed for one touchdown.
