Thursday night, the Dallas Cowboys will travel to Soldier Field to take on the Chicago Bears.

The Dallas Cowboys were thought to be one of the two best teams (if not the best team) in the NFC East.  But that was before their last game on Thanksgiving against the Philadelphia Eagles.   On that day, the Cowboys didn’t look that great at all as they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles 33 – 10.  The offense didn’t look their best and the defense had trouble handling the quick strike Eagle offense.  All of this could have been due to the short week of preparation but that won’t be a factor against the Bears.  At 8 – 4, the Cowboys are a game back of the NFC East leading Eagles and just out of the playoff picture right now.  They will need to rebound against a Chicago team that is also holding on to albeit slim playoff hopes.

The Chicago Bears also took a loss on Thanksgiving with their defeat coming at the hands of their division rivals, the Detroit Lions. The Lions got a 34 – 17 win that pushed the Bears further away from a shot at the postseason. The Bears knew that they couldn’t get past the Lions’ run defense and that led to more reliance on the passing game. But it didn’t matter as the Bears couldn’t really get anything going after their two 1st quarter touchdowns.  The Cowboys’ defense is not known as one of the better ones in the NFL, so the Bears could get some chances to score.  On the defensive end, the Bears will need to shut down the Cowboys running game if they want a shot at getting closer to .500.
