Sunday afternoon, the Cincinnati Bengals will take on the Indianapolis Colts in a battle of division leaders.

The Cincinnati Bengals played a hard fought game last Sunday but all they got for their troubles was a tie that left them with a 3-1-1 record.   Against the Carolina Panthers, the Bengals had their chances but they couldn’t capitalize on them. Carolina scored first and held a 7 – 0 lead after the 1st quarter.  But a strong 2nd quarter gave Cincinnati a 17 - 10 lead at the half.  The 2nd half was a back and forth battle.  Down 7 points late, the Bengals scored 10 points in the final minutes to take a 34 -31 lead but the Panthers tied it up and sent it to overtime. And that’s where the Bengals’ luck ran out. They took the lead 37-34 and even after the Panthers tied it up again, Cincinnati had one last chance to win.  But kicker Mike Nugent missed a basic 36 yard field goal that would have sealed the victory.   Losing after scoring 37 points is rough and the Bengals might need as many points to get past the high powered offense of the Indianapolis Colts.

The Indianapolis Colts beat the Houston Texans 33-28 last Thursday but amazingly, the game was a runaway for the Colts early.  At the end of the 1st, Indianapolis was up 24 – 0 and the game seemed over.  Houston slowly climbed back.  Early in the 4th quarter, the Colts had lost almost all of their lead and were up by just 5 points.  But the Colts held on for the win. They might not be so luck against the Bengals.  Cincinnati can score just like Indianapolis and both defenses will need to be on their toes.
