The Chicago Bears will look to avoid going 0-2 when they travel to the west coast to take on the 1-0 San Francisco 49ers. Levi's Stadium will host its first regular season football game on this day and the Bears will have all their stars ready to keep the 49ers from adding another win to their total.
Chicago didn't play terribly in their season opener, but in the end, all that matters are wins and losses. In week 1, they lost in overtime to the Buffalo Bills, 23-20. The Bills are a team that was 6-10 a year ago and while they have a talented group of players on that roster, won't likely be contending for a playoff spot again this season. As always, the Bears were led in this game by the trio of Jay Cutler, Matt Forte, and Brandon Marshall. Cutler had a monster game, throwing for 349 yards and 2 touchdowns, but also threw 2 interceptions and finished with an 86.2 QB rating. On the ground and in the passing game, Forte was a threat, rushing for 82 yards and a touchdown and catching 8 passes for 87 yards. Marshall caught 8 passes for 71 yards and a score in the losing effort.
The 49ers will continue their efforts to keep pace with the Seattle Seahawks. The 49ers will look to go 2-0 and will look to quarterback Colin Kaepernick to help get them there. The star quarterback threw for 201 yards and 2 touchdowns in the San Francisco victory against the Dallas Cowboys will hope to have his way with the Bears. On the ground, the 49ers saw their past, present, and future at the position do exceedingly well, with Frank Gore rushing for 66 yards on 16 carries and Carlos Hyde adding 50 yards on just 7 touches.
