The Bears play their second straight primetime game after coming back from 17-0 down in the inaugural game at Levi's Stadium to storm back and beat the 49ers 28-20. The Bears can exact a little bit of revenge against the Jets, who scored what could have been the game tying TD against Chicago's rival Green Bay last week only to have it called back because of a timeout before the snap which led to a 31-24 Packers win.
Brandon Marshall caught 3TD passes to lead the Bears in the win over San Francisco despite playing on a gimpy ankle. The real turning point of the game might have came when QB Jay Cutler took a devastating shot to the sternum but stayed in the game to lead a late second quarter TD drive. Either way it was a welcome reprieve for Chicago who was upset in their home opener in week one as Buffalo came to town and stole a 23-20 victory. The Chicago run defense still has some issues ranked 27th in the league, but limiting the 49ers to 127 yards after giving up 193 to the Bills is seen as a minor victory.
The Jets devastatingly missed out on a chance to go 2-0 after the late debacle in Green Bay. New York was actually more impressive in their loss than they were in a season opening 19-14 win over Oakland. New York rallied out to an 18 point lead in Lambeau but were unable to stop the Aaron Rodgers train from roaring back. Either way it proves to be an electric atmosphere on Monday Night Football with the Jets secondary looking for redemption against another top tier offense.
The Jets have secured the #1 rush defense in the league after two weeks but gave up over 340 yards passing and 200+ yards receiving to Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers and Jordy Nelson last week. That doesn't bode well for a Bears team loaded with weapons in Marshall, Alshon Jeffery, Martellus Bennett, and Matt Forte.
