The Carolina Panthers (3-7) will attempt to snap their five-game losing skid when they go up against the Minnesota Vikings (4-7) on Sunday. During the 2013 season, the Panthers beat the Vikings 35-10 on the road.

The Panthers are now winless in six straight after taking a 19-17 defeat to the Atlanta Falcons two weeks ago. They did outgain the Falcons 391-346 in that loss, but they were only able to convert on three out of their 13 third down chances.

So far this season, the Panthers' defense has struggled mightily, giving up 374 total yards and 27.3 points per game. Quarterback Cam Newton has not had a very good year, throwing for 2,392 yards with 12 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin has been able to catch 56 passes this season for 768 yards and eight touchdowns.

Last Sunday, the Vikings lost their second game in a row when they were defeated 24-21 by the Green Bay Packers. They only finished with 308 total yards in that loss and they converted on just five of their 13 third down opportunities.

The Vikings have had one of the worst passing games in the NFL this season, averaging just 192.5 passing yards per game. Backup running back Matt Asiata has only averaged 3.3 yards per carry this year, but he also leads the team with six touchdowns.
