The Buffalo Bills will attempt to bounce back from a 6-10 season when they visit the Chicago Bears, who finished the 2013 season with an 8-8 record.
The Buffalo Bills had a young squad in 2013 and had a hard time beating any of the top teams that they faced. Running backs C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson helped them to have one of the better rushing teams in the NFL, but they lacked a good passing attack and their defense gave up 128.9 rushing yards per game.
The Bills lost top free agents Jairus Byrd and Alex Carrington over the offseason, but their offensive line got a bit better thanks to the signing of tackle Chris Williams. To give quarterback EJ Manuel some much-needed help, they drafted highly-touted wide receiver Sammy Watkins with the fourth pick in the draft.
The Chicago Bears barely missed out on the playoffs last season after losing four of their final six games. Quarterbacks Jay Cutler and Josh McCown combined to help the team finish with a top 5 passing game, but the team's real downfall was its defense, which gave up the third-most yards in the NFL.
To help their defense, the Bears made three impact free agent signings by adding defensive ends Jared Allen, Lamaar Houston and Willie Young. They also focused on defense during the draft, with their biggest pickup being cornerback Kyle Fuller, who they took with the 14th overall selection.
