The Buffalo Bills will get their first chance to see if their offseason work will pay off on Friday night when they on the Carolina Panthers in their preseason opener.
The Buffalo Bills made a bunch of moves to give themselves depth along the offensive line, so there will be multiple battles to watch over the next four weeks. Kraig Urbik was their starter at right guard in 2013, fourth-year pro Chris Hairston is going to get his chance to take the starting job from him.
A Bills rookie who everyone in the football world will be watching on Friday is wide receiver Sammy Watkins. The fourth overall pick has the potential to quickly become the Bills' number one receiver, but he will have to start off by catching the balls that are thrown to him in the preseason.
The Carolina Panthers still aren't sure who they will slot into either of their starting cornerback positions. Second-year player Melvin White should end up with one of the jobs, but Antoine Cason, Josh Norman and Josh Thomas will all battle it out for the other spot starting on Friday.
One Panthers rookie who has looked great in training camp and should be fun to watch during the preseason is wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin. The first-round pick out of FSU is already expected to start for the Panthers because of their lack of depth at the position, but if he plays well during the preseason, he could show other teams that he is a true threat.
