Monday night, the Atlanta Falcons will journey to Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers.

The Atlanta Falcons took the lead in a horrible NFC South division by upsetting the Arizona Cardinals 29 -18 last week.  The Falcons needed a win to take control of the division and they played one of their best games of the season against the Cardinals.  The Atlanta offense torched one of the better defenses in the NFL with 500 yards of total offense.  Atlanta would need a performance like that to beat the Packers but they might not be able to get it.  The Packers defense kept one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL (Tom Brady) frustrated and flustered last week and they aren’t going to let Atlanta’s Matt Ryan get the best of them.     

The Green Bay Packers came out of their battle last week with the New England Patriots with a hard fought 26 -21 victory.  And while the win solidified the Packers position as the best team in the NFC, it also might have crowned them as the beast team in the NFL.   But there were still some issues that the Packers will certainly have to look at.  The biggest was their failure inside of the red zone.  The Patriots held the Packers to 4 field goals in 4 situations where the Packers should have come away with touchdowns.  That futility might lead the Packers to make a statement against the Falcons and that is something that Atlanta can’t afford.  Atlanta’s final 3 games are all against teams potentially fighting for playoff spots.  The Packers know that the Falcons need a win and they aren’t going to help them get on.
