Kansas State at Kansas Picks and NCAA Basketball Odds
by Alan Matthews - 2/11/2013
If you look up the definition of the world rivalry, you will see competition listed under its meanings. Thus, when Kansas State fans say they have a heated rivalry with Kansas, well, that’s simply incorrect (in reality Missouri-Kansas was much more fierce). Why? KSU has lost 45 of the past 48 meetings with the big-brother Jayhawks.
Pittsburgh at Cincinnati Picks and NCAA Hoops Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 2/9/2013
The top game on Saturday’s college basketball slate takes us into the bell of the Beast. No. 25 Pittsburgh travels to take on No. 17 Cincinnati at 6 p.m. on Saturday in the Queen City in the matchup of two Big East contenders. The Panthers are 19-5 on the season and a half-game ahead of the Bearcats at 7-4 in league play. Cincinnati is 18-5 on the season and 6-4 in Big East play.
Utah State at San Jose State Picks and College Basketball Odds
by Alan Matthews - 2/8/2013
It could be the best athletic season in Utah State school history. The Aggies’ football team had its best-ever year, winning the WAC title and finishing 11-2 with a 41-15 blowout of Toledo in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. Unfortunately, USU was so successful that head coach Gary Andersen was hired at Wisconsin to replace Bret Bielema.
NC State at Duke Picks and NCAA Basketball Odds
by Dave Schwab - 2/7/2013
The North Carolina State Wolfpack will be looking to pull off a rare regular-season sweep of the No.4 Duke Blue Devils this Thursday night when the two ACC foes square off at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Minnesota at Michigan State Picks and NCAA Basketball Odds
by Trevor Whenham - 2/6/2013
There is no such thing as an easy game in the Big Ten right now. These teams certainly aren’t going to have one here. These squads played the last game of 2012 in the Big Ten, and Minnesota won convincingly — 76-63 That was their first win against the Spartans in the regular season since 2006. Michigan State is a better team now than they were then, though, and they are at home. They will be hungry for revenge. They will be also ne anxious to maintain their momentum — their only loss in the last eight was a strong effort at Indiana.
Boston College at Miami Picks and NCAA Betting Odds
by Dave Schwab - 2/5/2013
It will be a battle between last place and first place in the ACC this Tuesday night when the Boston College Eagles try and hand the Miami Hurricanes their first conference loss of the season. This clash is slated to tip off at 7 p.m. (ET) and it will be broadcast on ESPN3.
Oklahoma at Iowa State Picks and College Basketball Odds
by Alan Matthews - 2/4/2013
With the NFL season now in the rear-view mirror of the sporting scene as of Sunday night, it’s really time to start focusing on college basketball and the upcoming March Madness. Prepare for plenty of “bubble watches” over the next six weeks or so, and two teams probably not far off that bubble face off in Big 12 action on Monday as Oklahoma visits Iowa State.
Michigan at Indiana Picks and NCAA Basketball Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 2/2/2013
Indiana was able to steal a win from Kentucky last year in the biggest and best regular season game in college basketball last year. On Saturday they will try to repeat that feat as they once again host the top team in the country in a marquee college hoops situations.
Yale at Harvard Picks and College Basketball Odds
by Alan Matthews - 2/1/2013
You have to love the Ivy League. It’s clearly the only Division I basketball conference that truly puts academics ahead of athletics. For one, there are no athletic scholarships available to Ivy League schools. Instead, they give top athletes a lot of financial aid. Most Ivy League schools double the size of grants meant for middle-income families. Also, the Ivy League only plays its conference games on Fridays and Saturdays – thus no disruption of classes. And finally, the Ivy is the only D-I conference without a postseason tournament. The regular-season champ gets the NCAA Tournament bid.
Arizona at Washington Picks and College Basketball Betting Odds
by Dave Schwab - 1/31/2013
The Arizona Wildcats and the Washington Huskies clash this Thursday night at the Alaska Airlines Arena with just one game separating the two teams in the current Pac-12 standings. The game is slated to tip off at 9 p.m. (ET), and it will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.
Northwestern at Michigan Picks and College Basketball Odds
by Trevor Whenham - 1/30/2013
If this game plays out at all like it should it won’t be close. Let’s get that out there to begin with. So why is a game like this worth discussing? Well, the Michigan Wolverines will be debuting their shiny No. 1 ranking in the AP Poll. The last time they were looking down on the rest of basketball world was during the 1992-93 season — the “Fab Five” era — and most of the stars of this current team weren’t even born yet. It has been a seemingly endless wait for the return to glory, but Michigan fans now feel it. Now it remains to be seen if the team can handle their lofty ranking with the same calm determination they have handled the rest of this season with the exception of the first half of their lone loss at Ohio State.
Georgia Tech at Clemson Picks and NCAA Hoops Betting Odds
by Dave Schwab - 1/29/2013
Georgia Tech will be in search of just its second win the ACC this season when it makes the trip north to Littlejohn Coliseum this Tuesday night to face the Clemson Tigers. This game is set to tip off at 7 p.m. (ET) and it will be broadcast on ESPN3.
Pittsburgh at Louisville Picks and College Basketball Odds
by Alan Matthews - 1/28/2013
Is it time to worry about Rick Pitino’s Louisville Cardinals, or has the team simply hit a wall while awaiting March Madness? As of this writing, the Cardinals (16-4, 4-3 Big East) are No. 5 in the polls, but they certainly will drop out of the Top 10 when Monday’s new polls are released. Louisville was beaten 53-51 at Georgetown on Saturday, the team’s third straight loss (0-3 ATS). How unusual is that?
New Mexico at San Diego State Picks and College Basketball Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 1/26/2013
Quick: name me the top three college basketball conferences in the country. I am willing to bet – because that’s what I do – that you forgot about The Mountain West. According to the RPI, the most commonly referenced tool for gauging college basketball strength, the Mountain West Conference it he second-best conference in the country. Ken Pomeroy, one of the most well respected statisticians in the sport, has the Mountain West Conference as the No. 3-ranked conference in the country, behind only the Big Ten and the Big East.
Canisius at Rider Picks and College Basketball Odds
by Alan Matthews - 1/25/2013
Last week, in my Friday NCAA basketball free picks story, I looked at Stony Brook and Vermont, contenders in the America East, which certainly will be a conference that will send only one team to the NCAA Tournament. That also will be the case for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, and a key matchup for MAAC Tournament seeding is Friday night in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, when Rider hosts Canisius.
UCLA at Arizona Picks and College Basketball Betting Odds
by Dave Schwab - 1/24/2013
This Thursday night at the McKale Center the UCLA Bruins and the Arizona Wildcats clash in a huge Pac-12 tilt between two of the top contenders for the regular season conference crown. The game is set to tip off at 9 p.m. (ET) and it will be broadcast nationally on ESPN2.
Butler at La Salle Picks and College Basketball Odds
by Trevor Whenham - 1/23/2013
When last we saw Butler they were doing what they do best — crushing the dreams of a high-profile program in dramatic fashion. This time the victim was Gonzaga on Saturday night,, and it was a play in the final seconds that sealed the win. Now they have to get focused again and try to put their best game forward on the road here in what could be a tricky spot.
Louisville at Villanova Picks and College Basketball Odds
by Dave Schwab - 1/22/2013
The Louisville Cardinals will be going for their 17th win of the season this Tuesday night when they square off against the Villanova Wildcats at the Pavilion in this Big East Conference matchup. Game time for this conference clash is set for 8 p.m. (ET), and the game will be available on ESPN3.
Cincinnati at Syracuse Picks and College Basketball Odds
by Alan Matthews - 1/21/2013
If you like upsets in college basketball, the past week-and-a-half or so has been thrilling as five Top-5 teams have been knocked off. The latest was No. 1 Louisville, which will only spend one week at the top of the polls following the Cards’ 70-68 home loss to No. 6 Syracuse on Saturday. The Orange definitely have a claim to No. 1, but it’s unlikely they are able to jump that high as they didn’t receive a single first-place vote in last week’s AP poll – the other five teams ahead of them each got at least one. Duke, the only other team to beat Louisville this season, probably returns to the top spot.
Gonzaga at Butler Picks and College Basketball Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 1/19/2013
Who is the best mid-major program in the country? That has been a consistent argument in that weird little subculture of people in the world that argues about mid-major college basketball programs. For the past decade, people have discussed the merits of the best teams from the non-BCS-affiliated conferences. There are a host of great teams worthy of acknowledgment; VCU, Creighton, UNLV, San Diego State, BYU, Xavier, Memphis, and George Mason have all been excellent in this millennium.
