I have had had much less of a handle on this team the last three years than any other in the country. I have consistently questioned their mental toughness, their depth, and their coaching. And all they have done in that time is win two of the last three national titles, absolutely destroying my beloved Michigan Wolverines to cut down the nets last March.

The net result was that a five-star commit backed out of his commitment, and two key players - Austin Wiley and Danjel Purifoy were ruled ineligible.

At first glance, this shouldn't be a ranked team - especially not a Top 15 team. They lost three of their four top scorers from last year and were, frankly, lousy last season. It's not just a regular-season phenomenon, either - the Mountaineers have missed the Sweet 16 only once in the four years of this era.

The Kansas Jayhawks are always talented, but this year they are loaded and have the most ideal Bill Self roster we have seen in a few years. And it's a very interesting roster. And by interesting, I mean a little odd. They have three guys who will lead the way and take this team as far as it can go. One is a five-star, one-and-done prodigy. One is a transfer who sat out last year and is hungry for action. And one is a guy who seems to have been in Kansas for a decade now. Most teams don't have that kind of diversity on a roster - or at least not when all the guys are at such a high level.

The story in Kentucky is a very familiar one under John Calipari. The team has lost a huge portion of their rotation from last year, but it likely won't matter as they have reloaded with a host of blue-chip talents - several of which won't be here next year. Managing the revolving door, and getting all of these young talents to play together quickly, is what Calipari does better than anything else - besides recruiting, of course.

Not only is Gonzaga a Top 4 team and a legitimate contender entering the season, but unlike the other three teams in the top four - Kansas, Kentucky and Duke - they are not a team that will have to rely on insanely talented freshmen to figure out the game and carry their teams to the promised land. Gonzaga is a team that will have one sophomore as their youngest starter and a rotation that will count on freshmen only for depth. Add in a truly elite coach, and the experience that came from that run to the Championship Game a year and a half ago, and you have a team that is unquestionably capable of winning it all.
