Monday night, the West Virginia Mountaineers will face the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

The West Virginia Mountaineers won their 6^th straight game on Saturday afternoon after they defeated the TCU Horned Frogs 78 - 67. The Horned Frogs started the game on a 7 - 0 run but the Mountaineers didn't let the game get too far ahead of them. TCU saw their lead dwindle in the later stages of the 1^st half and the Mountaineers went in at the half down by just 2 points. West Virginia took the lead early in the 2^nd half and that triggered a back and forth battle for most of the 2^nd half. But the Mountaineers pulled away in the final minutes to seal the victory. Gary Browne's season high 16 points led the Mountaineers as they hit 42% of their shots. If West Virginia puts together another solid effort, they should be able to get past a struggling Texas Tech team.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders took their 3^rd loss in 4 games on Saturday afternoon after they fell to the Texas Longhorns 70 - 61. The 1 ^st half was a back and forth battle of the wills between Texas Tech and Texas. The Longhorns finally imposed their will on the Red Raiders in the closing minutes to take a 9 point lead at the half. The Red Raiders spent the entire 2^nd half trying to get back in the game but they just couldn't find a way to get past the Longhorns. The Red Raiders shot 42% overall and 21% from the distance as they were led by Isaiah Manderson and his 12 points. For their struggles to end the Red Raiders will need to get some better shooting especially from beyond the arc and they will need to cut down on the unnecessary turnovers.
