Friday night, the Washington Huskies will do battle against the California Golden Bears.

The Washington Huskies took their first defeat of the season on December 28^th after they lost 62 - 57 to the Stony Brook Seawolves. The Huskies started strong but they weren't able to get enough separation from the Seawolves. As Stony Brook hung around, they managed to make it just a 9 point Washington lead at the half. In the 2^nd half, the Huskies tried again to pull away from the Seawolves and at one point Washington was up by 16. But then, the Seawolves started to mount a rally. Stony Brook tied the game with a little over a minute left and they made their shots as Washington missed the ones that would have avoided the biggest win in Stony Brook school history. Washington shot just 34% overall and 30% from 3-point distance as they were led by Robert Upshaw's 10 points. The upset loss might wake Washington up to the fact that any team can win on any given night.

The California Golden Bears dropped their 2^nd straight game on December 28^th as they were upset 55 - 52 by the CSU-Bakersfield Roadrunners. The Roadrunners started the game on a 13 -3 run that might have foreshadowed the impending upset. Cal fought back to cut the 17 point deficit down to 10 at the half. But the Roadrunners were not to be denied in the 2^nd half. Even as the Golden Bears cut the lead down to just 2 points late, they couldn't get past the Roadrunners. Cal shot just 39% from the field and 13% from beyond the arc as they were paced by Tyrone Wallace and his 17 points. Shooting will have to improve for the Golden Bears before they can get back to their winning ways.
