On Saturday afternoon, the #11 Texas Longhorns will be taking on the Texas Tech Red Raiders in each team's first conference game of the season. The Longhorns and the Red Raiders split their two-game series during the 2013-14 season.

Texas has now won four out of their last five games after defeating Rice 66-55 on Monday. The Longhorns only made 43.4 percent of their shots in that game, but they also had a huge 39-25 rebounding advantage.

Through 13 games this season, the Longhorns are in the top five in the country in rebounding with nearly 44 boards per game. Senior forward Jonathan Holmes is now averaging 12.5 points per game and is tied for the team lead in rebounding with 6.7 per game.

Texas Tech got back on the winning track on Monday night when they blew out North Texas 60-45 at home. Their defense forced 16 turnovers in that win and held North Texas to a very low 34.6 field goal percentage.

The Red Raiders have one of the top 30 defenses in the nation right now by only giving up 57.8 points per game. They have relied heavily on freshman forward Norense Odiase, who is now averaging 8.2 points and five rebounds per game while making an impressive 57.6 percent of his shot attempts. Freshman guard Devaugntah Williams leads the team in scoring right now with 11.6 points per game.
