The Oregon State Beavers will open up their Pac 12 schedule when they take on the Oregon Ducks on Saturday night. During the 2013-14 season, the Ducks were able to win two out of their three games against the Beavers.

Oregon State got back on the winning track on Tuesday when they defeated UC Santa Barbara 76-64 at home. They made 22 of their 27 free throw attempts in that win while also forcing UC Santa Barbara into committing 18 turnovers.

Through 12 games, the Beavers have one of the top defensive teams in the country by giving up just 56.5 points per game. Their top player has been junior guard Gary Payton II, who is now averaging 12.5 points, 8.7 rebounds and 3.1 steals per game. Junior forward Olaf Schaftenaar has scored 10.9 points per game while making 42.6 percent of his three-pointers.

On Monday night, Oregon was able to win their fifth game in a row by edging UC Irvine 69-67 at home. The Ducks didn't shoot the ball well in that game, but they did end up with a 38-29 rebounding advantage.

So far this season, the Ducks are in the top 10 in the nation in both rebounding and team assists per game. Senior guard Joseph Young has been their best all-around play by averaging 19.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game.
