Monday night, the Oklahoma Sooners will take on the Texas Longhorns.

The Oklahoma Sooners picked up their 3^rd win in a row on Saturday afternoon after they slipped by the Baylor Bears 73 - 63. The bears seemed to be the better team early on and they took the early advantage. But the Sooners fought back to end the half on a run that gave them a 37 - 33 lead at the break. Oklahoma took advantage of the cold Baylor shooting in the 2^nd half to extend their lead and put the game away. The Sooners were led by TaShawn Thomas and his 24 point effort as Oklahoma shot 40% overall and 36% from 3-point distance. The Sooners looked good in their conference opener and they will need to really battle in a Big 12 that looks like it will be hard to get out of this season. The next big conference test will come against a strong Texas team.

The Texas Longhorns extend their win streak to 2 games after beating the Texas Tech Red Raiders 70 - 61 on Saturday afternoon. The Longhorns faced some early opposition from the Red Raiders but Texas eventually broke away. At the half, the Longhorns were up 31 - 22. Texas immediately started building on that lead in the 2^nd half and Texas Tech seemed powerless to do anything about it. The Red Raiders came close in the final minutes but by then, they had run out of time. Javan Felix led the way for the Longhorns with 15 points as Texas shot 38% from the field and an equal percentage from beyond the arc. A win to open Big 12 play was sorely needed given the strength of the conference this year. And the win should give Texas some momentum as they take on Oklahoma.
