Monday night, the Nebraska Cornhuskers will take on the Iowa Hawkeyes.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers saw their 2 game win streak end on New Year's Eve after they lost 70 - 65 to the Indiana Hoosiers. The game was a tight contest for the first few minutes before the Cornhuskers started to see the game slip away from them. Indiana built a double digit lead before Nebraska cut it down to an 8 point deficit at the half. The Cornhuskers took the lead early in the 2^nd half but they couldn't hold it. Indiana pulled away in the closing minutes to deal Nebraska the loss. The Cornhuskers were led by Terran Petteway and his 23 points as Nebraska shot 39% overall and 38% from 3 point distance. A stronger finish might have earned the Cornhuskers the win but the loss might have taught Nebraska a lesson for the future.

The Iowa Hawkeyes made it 2 in a row after they beat the Ohio State Buckeyes 71 - 65 on December 30^th. A 10 - 3 run gave the Hawkeyes the early lead but the Buckeyes quickly closed the gap. A late run put Iowa up by 12 at the half. Ohio State came close in the 2^nd half but they couldn't find a way to get in front of Iowa. The Buckeyes shot 46% overall and 36% from the distance as they were led by the 18 point efforts of Jarrod Uthoff and Aaron White. The win gave the Buckeyes a lift to start conference play and it could give them some momentum as they face Nebraska.
