The Minnesota Golden Gophers will play their second tough ACC game of the season when they face the #12 Maryland Terrapins on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Gophers are 1-1 on the road so far this season, while the Terps have won nine of their 10 home games.

On Wednesday night, Minnesota had their eight-game winning streak end when they were beaten 72-68 by Purdue on the road. They did make eight of their 16 three-pointers in that loss, but they only made 43.4 percent of their shots overall.

The Golden Gophers are currently in the top 15 in the country in scoring with 82 points per game. One of their top performers this season has been senior forward Maurice Walker, who is now averaging 12 points and a team-high 5.6 rebounds per game.

Maryland was in a thriller against Michigan State on Tuesday night, eventually winning 68-66 in two overtimes. Neither team shot the ball well in that game, but Maryland was the much better rebounding team and finished with a 52-36 advantage on the boards.

Through 14 games, the Terrapins have grabbed 37.8 rebounds per game while only allowing their opponents to pull down 28.3 boards per game. Freshman guard Melo Trimble leads the team in scoring with 15.9 points per game, while senior forward Dez Wells is averaging 15.3 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.
