Sunday night, the Louisville Cardinals will do battle against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.   

The Louisville Cardinals easily shook off their first loss of the season as they demolished the Long Beach State 49ers 63 -48 back on December 30th.  Even though they weren’t expected to be a factor in this game, the 49ers stayed close to the Cardinals early on. But eventually, the Cardinals tired of toying with the 49ers as they pulled away to take a 34 -19 lead at the half.  Although the 49ers tried to make things interesting in the 2nd half, they never really had a chance against the more polished Cardinals.  Louisville shot 51% overall as Terry Rozier set the pace with a 23 point effort.  Expect the Cardinals to come out strong for their ACC opener against the Demon Deacons as Louisville attempts to show the rest of the nation that they are still one of the best teams in the country.

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons made it 3 in a row on New Year’s Eve with an 80 -66 win over the Princeton Tigers.  Wake Forest started slow and that allowed Princeton to take an early lead.  The Demon Deacons reestablished themselves as the half came to a close and they took a 32 -20 lead into the locker rooms at the half.  The 2nd half was nowhere near as close as the 1st was as the Demon Deacons slowly pulled away from the tigers to seal the win.  Konstantinos Mitoglou led the way with 15 points as Wake Forest shot 42% from the field and 43% (a season high 10 3-pointers) from beyond the arc.  Wake Forest will need that type of shooting if they want to extend their win streak with a victory over Louisville.
