In the Missouri Valley, the Illinois State Redbirds will visit the Wichita State Shockers on Sunday afternoon. The Shockers come into the game ranked 16th in the Associated Press poll with an 11-2 record; 1-0 in Missouri Valley Conference play. The Shockers are coming off a road win at Drake on December 30th. For Illinois State, they are coming off a conference opening loss to Indiana State. The Redbirds are 8-5 overall and 0-1 in the conference.

The Wichita State Shockers have two losses on the season. One of which to the Utah Utes and the other to the George Washington Colonials. The best win of the season for Greg McDermott’s team was on December 16th over Alabama. The top scorer for Wichita State on the season is Ron Baker, with 17.3 points per game. The Illinois State Redbirds are led by their head coach Dan Muller. The Redbirds were one of the teams projected to compete at the top of the conference standings with Wichita State. In non conference play, the Redbirds picked up notable wins over UAB and DePaul, but fell in games to Utah State, Seton Hall, VCU and Murray State. The Redbirds top scorer has been Daishon Knight, with 14.4 points per game. Illinois State is scoring 72.6 points per game.
